All About Maisie's Emporium

About: About

Hand made, upcycled, repurposed textiles

Hello! I'm Deborah Gray,  a textile artist and maker living and working in Oban, on the scenic West coast of Scotland. I design and make under the brand name Maisie's Emporium, using mainly upcycled, repurposed and sometimes found materials. I make a range of beautiful and useful items from vintage linens which I dye and eco-print with local plants, creating patterns using Shibori techniques and natural indigo. I also make gorgeous silk scarves with these techniques. Sometimes I further embellish the fabrics with hand stitching, before I make them up using my vintage hand-cranked sewing machine.
I make a range of cards from upcycled found papers and original eco-prints as well as mounted ecoprints. I use recycled paper, envelopes and packaging as much as I can.
Small batches and one-off creations ensure that your purchase is a unique gift for yourself or someone else special.

I am internationally well known as a teacher of hand spinning,
natural dyeing, knitting and stitching around Scotland and abroad.
